Coincidence is always unexpected and keeps surprising you. You can’t get a grip on it or force it. But you can indirectly influence how often you experience meaningful coincidence, by living your life like it was meant to be lived. In other words, by living meaningfully. Synchronity can help you with that, by confirming you’re on the right path or by helping you further. In this article you’ll find 7 steps with which you’ll improve the chances of meaningful coincidences happening. The beautiful thing is that these steps are also the 7 steps to more happiness. It’s not a coincidence that you mean the same thing with ‘It’s purely a coincidence’ as ‘It’s purely happiness’…
Step 1. Listen to yourself
Make time for yourself regularly, to find out what you need. Ask yourself questions as: What do I REALLY want? What gives me energy? When do I feel a ‘drive’? Am I doing the right things and am I doing them in a way that suits me? Am I myself most of the time or am I leading my life because of the expectations of others? What would I like to spend more time and energy on? What do I want to leave behind? With whom do I want to spend more time?
Some people find it useful to find the answer to these questions while writing. Others come to realisations while they’re in nature or meditating. And for others a coach who asks the right questions works the best.
Step 2. Determine your goal in life
With your personal goal in life, your mission, you give meaning to your life. Meaning, as in what you’re adding to the world around you. But also enjoying your life.
If you listen to yourself, you know who and how you want to be and can make an effort to work towards that. You’re authentic, powerful.
Step 3. Give unconditionally
Your personal mission isn’t about ‘having’ something. It’s about ‘being’ something, by being there for another person or the world around you. You give something, without immediately expecting something in return. You for example pay attention to others by helping them, by making an effort for them, or by giving a compliment. Or you share knowledge. Or you give inspiration. Or you give something tangible. You’re obliging, but without sacrificing too much of yourself.
Step 4. Follow your intuition
Your intiution is your internal voice. So if you listen to yourself, you’ll notice your intuition better. Follow your intuition, but don’t completely stop thinking rationally…
Step 5. Live your mission from your heart
If you know what your mission is from your heart, you want nothing but to spend as much time as possible on it. Start today and do something every day that contributes to your mission.
Step 6. Live in the present time
Get your happiness from the present time, be thankful and positive for what already is. Don’t live in the past and don’t postpone happiness until you might accomplish something in the future. Make an effort to do things that contribute to your mission in the present time, even if it’s just something small. And enjoy it.
Step 7. Experience connection
Realize that everything and everyone is connected on a deeper level. And that what you do can affect something or someone.
